Women Are Saying Goodbye

Ladies Are Saying Goodbye Like the VonTrapp kids, numerous ladies are stating so long, goodbye, Auf wiedersehen to the workforce and its perplexing specialists. Never have ladies been progressively instructed, closer to shutting the compensation hole and less inclined to decide to end their profession when beginning a family. So what is the issue? As blogger Polly Pearson questions, are these women the canaries in our cutting edge educational age coal mineshaft? (that is a representative signifier that timesthey are a changin?) Could these withdrawing ladies as official workers simply be the canary in the coal mineshaft? Could these flights additionally signal future buying takeoffs from ladies who just need to go through dollars with organizations and associations who dont act like bastards? Something to consider. Include Millennials and even a segment of the 99%ers to the ladies with values populace and this could flag an ocean change to come. This is somewhat of an issue. Harvard financial expert Claudia Goldin, a main reesearcher in the field, has contended that women's expanded inclusion in the economy was the most huge change in labor markets during the previous century. Your first idea may be to put some portion of the fault on the pay hole, and youd be dead right. Numerous market analysts and budgetary investigators are conjecturing that the explanation proficient ladies, especially those at an official level are leaving in light of the fact that their compensations have become pocket cash: Late information demonstrates that since the last downturn, which saw a reemergence of ladies into the workforce as spouses were laid off, knowledgeable ladies are beginning to leave the workforce again in a bigger pattern seen in the course of recent years. The explanation may have to do with the more quickly developing compensations of men versus ladies. The image this economy paints today is reminiscient of the WW2 laborers who filled in the holes when the male workforce was away, just in our later case, ladies got a move on when men were laid off. Be that as it may, the similitudes proceeded: During our scaled down downturn ladies could be and were saved money, making them an alluring other option. Since the economy is giving indications of recuperation, the compensation hole is by and by extending and ladies are leaving the workforce (the men are back). As a rule, whole checks are going to think about kids. Be that as it may, there are different voices, who while recognizing the repetitive example of ladies leaving the workforce and the legitimately over the top compensation errors that exist at even the most elevated echelons of partnerships, who state that while ladies might be leaving the workforce at the most noteworthy numbers in decades, they might be cutting out various types of work for themselves and their families, and driving one of the greatest workforce shifts in our industrialized history. Narratively, I'd state there is an underground ocean change hatching. Wherever I look, ladies are beginning microbusinessesselling gems or T-shirts on Etsy.com, turning out to be fitness coaches, independent composition and altering, offering birth support as doulas, kneading customers in their homes. Lawfully, or not really legitimately, ladies are progressively working 10-40 hours per week outside the conventional workforce modelin expansion to bringing up their kids. Are the insights following this? At any rate for the money economy occupations, in all likelihood not. One interesting examination has discovered this might be an individual decision by ladies to deny any separation they MAY confront. Basically, leaving when their fairly estimated worth is the most noteworthy to abstain from seeing the unjustifiable checks and blundered advancements. Be that as it may, for shrewd selection representatives, HR Practitioners and associations hoping to keep this informed and experienced workforce in play, thoughts flourish, including the ever well known activity sharing choices, work strategic scheduling, littler drives, sponsored childcare and more choices for working moms.

Ep 201 - Recruiting Candidates With Criminal Histories, a Personal Story - Workology

Ep 201 - Recruiting Candidates With Criminal Histories, a Personal Story - Workology Advice for Job Candidates with Criminal Records At a time when the unemployment rate is 3.8 percent, SHRM data says that more than 7.8 million jobs will need to be filled by 2020. As HR leaders, we’re always looking for talent pools to tap for new candidates. This includes campaigns to specifically recruit diverse candidates, persons with disabilities, and other marginalized groups. One often overlooked group: people who have a criminal history. With nearly 700,000 people being released from jail and prison every year, employers must be open to hiring the formerly incarcerated. This podcast is sponsored by ClearCompany. Ep 201: Recruiting Candidates With Criminal Histories, a Personal Story (@shelly_winner) Technology specialist and Restorative Justice Activist, Shelley Winner wants to educate the public about the benefits of hiring the formerly incarcerated. Shelley was incarcerated herself and shares her personal story of what led to her incarceration, the personal work she did in prison and some of the challenges she and others face after being released when it comes to finding employment. You might not hear it in this podcast episode, but Shelleys story got me emotional and tears were shed by me during this interview with her. The reason she is speaking out is that she wants HR and recruiting leaders to understand the impact of hiring practices that avoid hiring those with felony convictions. Yes, there are laws in place like Ban the Box for many states but the only delay the criminal history conversation. So many companies wont hire people with criminal histories. She says these hiring practices keep people who are trying to re-enter society and the workforce from being able to move forward and earn a living wage. From the first day I stepped onto the prison yard, I enrolled in every rehabilitative program I possibly could. I spent my whole entire time working on becoming a better person by taking a multitude of classes. - @shelley_Winner #podcast #hiring Click To Tweet Advice for Job Candidates with Criminal Records I asked Shelley to also talk to job candidates who have criminal records giving them hope and insights on how to find employment when you have a criminal record. She says job candidates need to be resilient. She says job seekers with criminal histories need to tell employers they are interviewing with about the work theyve done on themselves to move past their mistake. Shelley is a great example and within two months of her start date, she was named the most valuable player for her team. She says it wasnt easy and she had to be relentless with her new employer because after reviewing her criminal history, they tried to rescind the job offer. She didnt accept no for an answer and worked very hard with the recruiter and hiring manager to hire her even with a criminal history. Conclusion Empathy in the hiring process is imperative to keep the “human” in human resources. We all make mistakes. We may have even broken the law, but avoided incarceration. As Shelley said in the beginning of her TedX Talk (listed above), would you want the worst thing you’ve ever done to define you for the rest of your life? Second chances aren’t just something we talk about. We must understand how to support rehabilitation and education for people who are currently or formerly incarcerated. A second chance changed Shelley’s entire life. Consider the impact we could make as a community if we offered the same to the 700,000 people being released from the prison system every year. Spring Style Guide for the Office

Spring Style Guide for the Office Progressing from winter to spring is an energizing time for closets. It's extraordinary in light of the fact that you can pack a portion of those substantial sweaters away and really have a great time with your style. Spring welcomes exploring different avenues regarding new hues, examples and patterns, however shouldn't something be said about at the workplace? I'll give you how you can mess with your spring style while keeping it suitable for conferences and long days at the workplace. Draw Out the Florals Each spring, florals press their way once again into our closet. Be that as it may, this spring, there are such a large number of approaches to stir up the exemplary pattern. Blending a curiously large botanical example with an intense shading will light up those office lobbies. For whatever length of time that you keep it basic up top, with a strong nonpartisan, you can blend it up with a flower pencil skirt. Remember Pastels As indicated by Glamor Magazine, yellow is enormous this season. Hues are a simple method to get your office closet prepared for spring since everything necessary is a fly of shading under a coat or on your jewelry. You can never turn out badly with pastels with regards to spring design, so consider putting resources into a couple of essential pullovers that you can pivot normally. Use Your Prints Botanical isn't the main example you ought to incorporate this season. The workplace lives for printed suits, and this season, there are numerous choices to look over. Gingham is everything this spring, and it's perhaps the most straightforward style to join. Get yourself a gingham button-up shirt that can be combined with a pencil skirt or a couple of slacks. This is a wonderful method to remain moderate, so you feel proficient and prepared for work yet at the same time on pattern. Spread Some Sheer Despite the fact that you can't appear at the workplace uncovering it everything, you can in any case exploit the sheer pattern. Finding an unbiased sheer top that can be layered under a sweater (and over a nightgown) is an ideal method to redo this pattern â€" and keep it proficient. Shoes Matter In case you're feeling uncomfortable with blending some lively hues and examples into your storage room this spring, don't stress â€" simply center around your shoes. Including a fly of shading underneath the lower leg is a spectacular chance to light up your closet while staying with your old dedicated neutrals wherever else. A dark pantsuit can immediately become spring prepared with some strong footwear. There are a wide range of shoe plans assuming control over this spring, so it ought to be anything but difficult to track down one that works for you. If all else fails: Shirt Dress Shirt dresses are making their terrific introduction this season, and there's actually no reason not to shake one to the workplace. While different dresses can be flawed to wear in proficient settings, this pattern ought to be an easy decision. You get all the advantages of wearing an agreeable dress to the workplace, yet at the same time look proficient and set up. This pattern brings a manly vibe that can be enjoyable to play with. You can keep it unbiased or include a sprinkle of shading, however certainly consider adding a thin belt to this look. Play Polo Your old most loved is back, in excess of anyone's imagination, and prepared for easygoing Friday. Polo styled shirts are extraordinary on the grounds that they give you comfort and the demonstrable skill of the neckline. They can be found in all hues and examples, which implies there is a lot of space to get some crisp spring conceals. While huge amounts of top originators will flaunt their takes on the great polo, you'll despite everything have the option to discover them at any retail chain. Incorporating a couple of these patterns from this spring style manage into your office closet will cause you to feel new and proficient.

Has working from home put the sick day on its death bed

Has 'telecommuting' put the day off on its passing bed Has 'telecommuting' put the day off on its demise bed With more representatives than any time in recent memory ready to work remotely â€" and the American hard working attitude as confused and dread based as could be â€" phoning in debilitated in the present computerized world regularly signifies phoning in wiped out, yet guaranteeing your manager you'll despite everything be telecommuting, the New York Times reports. While it's acceptable that individuals aren't tromping into the workplace while sick, contaminating everyone around them â€" (1 out of 4 laborers would should be in the emergency clinic so as to get out wiped out, as indicated by look into) â€" there's undeniable value in taking a real, resting day off as opposed to keeping up efficiency from home while feeling unwell.Even Supreme Court Justices do it, similar to what Ruth Bader Ginsburg as of late did, when she was absent from the Supreme Court to hear contentions for a situation while she recovered from malignancy medical procedure. She would take an interest from home, C hief Justice John Roberts said.Employees are regularly excessively terrified of falling behind to quit working totally. Others fear the message phoning in debilitated, at that point doing nothing throughout the day, may send. Will it be viewed as an indication of an absence of reliability or diligence? Kit Warchol, the head of substance advertising for Skillcrush, told the Times. Her organization doesn't offer days off as such, however rather relies upon representatives to dependably deal with their time and speak with associates in the event that they can't work on account of disease or different conditions. Sounds like a set-up that can undoubtedly decay into nonstop work. Now, clearly, working environments aren't as loaded with hacking laborers reluctant to take a day off, and it's a decent following stage that they're contained securely at home. On the off chance that they would quit working.

Want to find a new job Stop paying so much attention to the minimum requirements. - Copeland Coaching

Want to find a new job Stop paying so much attention to the minimum requirements. Im certain Im going to get negative feedback for saying this, but I just have to. Every day (and I really mean every day) I spend at least an hour trying to convince job seekers to do something that seems completely crazy apply for a job. Why does it seem crazy? It seems crazy to apply for certain jobs because the job seekers work history doesnt match up 100% with the employers job description. The job seeker is convinced that they wont be considered and it will be a big waste of time (and possibly embarrassing). So, why would I encourage someone to apply for something that they are clearly not qualified for? I encourage them to apply because they CAN DO THE JOB! Our educational history and experience are both important. But, do you know whats more important than which degree you have? That you can do the work. Seriously. Employers create job descriptions in the most random ways. When I was a hiring manager, I studied job descriptions for other similar positions (to the one I was hiring for). I did my best to compile all the good parts of the other job descriptions I studied. I wanted to be sure the job description was perfect, and that I didnt leave anything out. I was going to ace that assignment. Im 100% certain that in the process, I came up with a wish list of qualifications that was a mile long. Did it mean that I wouldnt consider anyone who couldnt stand up to all my wishes? No. It was just that a wish list. It would have been unreasonable for me to expect a candidate to have all those qualifications and I knew it. Heres another real life example to demonstrate this point. I recently heard from an employer who is looking to fill a super interesting role. Were talking fun work, impressive title, great company. The job description is very comprehensive and is what I described above a wish list. And, the employer knows it. They told me that they put out a long list of skills hoping to attract as many candidates as possible. (Notice: They are trying to attract as many people as possible not eliminate as many people as possible.) I forwarded that great job to a few qualified people. I got an immediate response from multiple job seekers along these lines. This looks awesome, but Im not fully qualified to do it. Too bad I cant apply! Do you see whats happening here? We are assuming the company wont want to hire us, so we eliminate ourselves from the list of qualified candidates. Then, the company never even hears from us. They dont know we exist. We have taken ourselves out of the race (not the company). Lets think of this in another way. I often say that looking for a job is a lot like dating. At this day in age, lets be honest weve all tried online dating at one time or another. On sites like Match.com, singles are able to specify their preferences for things in a partner including age, height, hobbies, and musical taste. But, if a dater comes across someone that seems interesting, they dont just ignore the profile when theyre not a 100% match in requirements. They send the other person a message. They let the other person know they exist and that there was something about their profile that seemed interesting. Then, the other single (the one being contacted) can decide what they think. Their choice will depend on things like how important those qualities are to them (something you cant know from a profile). Job descriptions are the same way. A company may toss in some random requirement that they dont really care about. If you dont apply, youll never have the chance to be considered. If I could stand up on a table to shout this out, I would. By not applying, you are not allowing the company to make their own decision about their interest level. You are making the decision for them. You are effectively telling them that youre not qualified to do a job you know you can do.   Applying for a job often takes just a few minutes. Its not a huge waste of time. If you think you can do the job, take the time and submit yourself. If you are called for a job interview, it means that the company sees something in your background thats promising. And, they are flexible on their requirements (something you cant know from a job description). If there was only one piece of job search advice I could give, it would be this: APPLY MORE! Put your hat in the ring. The more you apply for jobs you know you can do (whether or not you meet all the requirements), the more choices you will have in the end. You are your own advocate you are your own salesperson. Do your part and SELL YOURSELF! I hope these tips have helped you. Visit CopelandCoaching.com to find more tips to improve your job search. A Lesson in Loving Your Low-Paid Job Alright, lets simply concede straight up that no one loves a low pay. Working your buns off just to scratch by every month isnt anyones thought of affection. In any case, it doesnt mean you cannot be infatuated with your work. Only hear me out. Cash may make life as we know it possible, yet its not everything. A gigantic pay, large house and mean-looking vehicle would be incredible to have, but those things wont guarantee your satisfaction. The High Pay Center has discharged another report expressing the average FTSE 100 CEO acquires £5.5 million every year. That is a significant wedge, particularly when you consider what the normal representative is presumably procuring underneath them. Sure, a bank brimming with heaps of cash may alleviate monetary pressure, but even the most extravagant individuals on the planet arent safe to common troubles. In the event that a horrid salary has made you hate your activity, its opportunity to locate another point of view. Your job may offer you much more than you might suspect. On the off chance that you can, take a stab at looking past your low pay for a moment and spotlight on the other components that make up your current occupation. Satisfaction Examine your everyday work do you love what you do? In the event that the appropriate response is truly, sometimes pursuing your passion as a vocation implies giving up a major pay. In the event that you truly love what you do, is the cash truly worth worrying about? That you are so fortunate to make the most of your work that is beyond what can be said for a great deal of people. Those who procure gigantic wages are regularly being made up for accomplishing work that is incredibly upsetting, tedious and laborious. A parcel of individuals do truly adore their work and are paid well, and well, that is the fantasy isnt it? Then again, if the appropriate response is no, maybe cash isnt the main problem here, its your activity fulfillment. Perhaps its chance to change careers (and see whether more cash may accompany a difference in landscape). Hours and days Examine the hours you work. Do you get your ends of the week off? Would you be able to time off at 5pm, truly and intellectually? Do you possess energy for a morning walk and espresso before work? Do you get adaptable hours? A few people need to stay accessible if the need arises and make themselves accessible at just a minutes notice. Others can never really turn off from work, and stress over their work every minute of every day. Area Is your activity neighborhood? Doesn't working in the city mean you can be home in less than 10 minutes? Will you generally discover a recreation center, or get a seat on the transport in the first part of the day? Or on the other hand perhaps your job is situated away from home, a few or constantly? Do you get the chance to visit new places, or travel with work? For certain individuals, the area of their activity is risky for them and is an incredibly unpleasant piece of their profession. How does yours stack up? Partners Do you love the individuals you work with? Do you appreciate their conversation, do they make you giggle? What about your chief. It is safe to say that she is/he steady and comprehension? Do they offer you opportunities to grow expertly, and assume on greater liability when you are performing admirably? A few people hate their colleagues, and report to the nastiest of directors. Advantages How do your advantages look? Do you have a liberal occasion allowance? Do you get exercise center participation, or maybe free breakfast on Mondays? What other non-money related additional items do you get as a feature of your job? Salary isnt consistently the main path for you to excel monetarily. Openings Is your activity utilizing your college degree? Does it offer you the opportunity to build up your abilities and increase significant experience which will set you up for your best course of action? On the off chance that you have movement possibilities and bearing in your job, youre presumably happier than many individuals who dont very know where their activity is driving them. Satisfaction Do you believe you are helping individuals? It is safe to say that you are having any kind of effect in people groups lives? Being satisfied in your profession is something that not every person has the joy of feeling. While more money would make life significantly simpler, scoring a compensation rise is not in every case straight forward. Where conceivable, attempt to center your attention on the bits of your activity you love.

In any event, when you think you have everything together. If you do what you generally did, you will get what you generally got. - Henry FordSo, with no further ado, here's are the kid's shows and uplifting quotes.AchievementEveryone needs to be cheerful. There's a huge amount of self improvement guides out there, all committed to discovering happiness. The thing is, satisfaction is a transient thing. It will in general go back and forth. Maybe it's Friday night, following a long work week, and you're making the rounds with friends. You hit the bar, lift a couple of lagers, sing a couple of melodies, and for a tad you feel glad. It's acceptable to adjust the stressors of existence with some agreeable redirections. It's simply that the delight doesn't last very long. There is, be that as it may, one technique that expands your joy. Truth be told, it can produce a sort of benchmark satisfaction that consistently remains with you. What is that procedure? Individual achievement.Happiness lies in the delight of accomplishment and the adventure of inventive exertion. - Franklin D. RooseveltI'm most joyful when I paint a pleasant scene, or represent an article that mirrors my best reasoning and imaginative exertion. It's the sort of satisfaction that stays with me. I like myself.Focus on accomplishment in your life. Work on developing yourself, your work and your innovative interests. At the point when you put resources into yourself and arrive at new statures, it's massively satisfying. What's more, it brings enduring joy.- - HabitsWillpower doesn't work extremely long. Ask any individual who has attempted to stop medications or liquor. At some point or another, we surrender. Creator Benjamin P. Tough composed a great book about this subject.Life can be hard. Great days are regularly bookended by terrible days. To bring some relief, individuals go to their longings. Or on the other hand more awful, their addictions. The answer for positive change lies in supplanting negative behavior patterns with great ones. Propensities and schedules are our greatest resources in completely changing ourselves for the better. We are what we more than once do. Greatness, at that point, isn't a demonstration, however a propensity. - Will DurantI meet individuals who disclose to me they're essayists or craftsmen. But, I never observe them really composing or painting. A few people are infatuated with the possibility of something, yet not really making an actual existence around accomplishing it.- - SimplicityMy life altogether improved when I found moderation. I realize that moderation is the in thing at the present time, and a great deal of bloggers are expounding on it.When I previously found moderation on a couple of blog locales, I felt that possibly it was a prevailing fashion. In any case, the more I analyzed my own life and propensities, I understood how much unnecessary mess was impeding a superior life.Maybe the existence you've for the longest time been itching to live is covered underneath all that you own. - AnonymousWhen my dad spent away years back, I needed to exchange a huge amount of his stuff. I needed to discover a transfer community to sell furniture and all the things in his carport. Other stuff I gave, and a few things were tossed away.It was depleting. Furthermore, I understood that a large portion of the stuff my Dad boxed away, he hadn't contacted in numerous years.Walk through most American neighborhoods, and you'll discover vehicles left in carports and in the city. Why? Since there's no room in their garages.Elegance is accomplished when all that is unnecessary has been disposed of and the person finds straightforwardness and fixation: the less difficult and progressively calm the stance, the more lovely it will be. - Paulo CoelhoOur wardrobes are loaded down with garments we don't wear. Our workplaces invade with records we do not require anymore. Our computerized lives covered in an ocean of photographs, recordings, messages and documents. So, I transformed me. I sold, gave or dumped the stuff I didn't require. I improved my closet and utilize brisk drying clothing and socks for travel.Heck, I went to Ireland with two sets of socks and clothing that I washed in the inn sink. They were eva porate before I got in the first part of the day. Less apparel permitted me to go with only a backpack.Less is more. Less stuff to keep up implies more opportunity to seek after the things that truly matter to you.- - KindnessSometimes, to put it gruffly, individuals suck. I see it constantly. Furious drivers cutting others off. Folks getting inebriated and starting ruckuses in the bar. Ladies tattling about others they as far as anyone knows consider their friends. It's out hearts and cerebrums that we should practice all the more frequently. You can put on all the cosmetics you need, however it won't make your spirit lovely. - Kevyn AucoinPhilosopher Jean-Paul Sartre composed the play No Exit (Huis Clos, in French) in 1943. As the site The-Philosophy.com notes:No Exit portrays the appearance of three characters - Garcin, Estelle, and Inez - in damnation - which happens to be a drawing room. As the characters battle to comprehend what sin has driven them to heck, and what their dis cipline might be, they rapidly suspect that there is no torturer. No killer. No flares to consume their spirits interminably. It's simply them three, caught in a stop. Different characters in the room are the discipline, in a manner of speaking. The full form of the statement features this delineation of Sartre's existentialist way of thinking: 'Every one of those eyes aim on me. Eating up me. What? Just you two? I thought there were increasingly; some more. So this is damnation. I'd never have trusted it. You recall all we were told about the dungeons, the fire and brimstone, the consuming marl. Old spouses' stories! There's no requirement for intensely hot pokers. Damnation IS OTHER PEOPLE!Fortunately, there are holy messengers among us. Some are Saints, similar to Mother Teresa. Others may not be celebrated, yet spread their benevolence and sympathy to help others.Such individuals advise us that there is a superior way. That we lift ourselves when we put others first. Consideration is the cure to world overwhelmed by agony, disdain and savagery. Since affection and consideration are all inclusive emotions. No, I'm not some draining heart visionary. More than 26 years in law implementation instructed me that a few spirits are vicious, irredeemable beasts. Indeed, even Gandhi recognized, I do accept that, where there is jus t a decision among weakness and viciousness, I would exhort savagery … At times, power is legitimized to stop or seize a fierce demonstration. In any case, what's required most in this world is consideration. Since generosity mirrors the best of mankind, and our capability to improve the world a spot.- - PersistenceIt requires discipline and continued exertion to prevail throughout everyday life. Regardless of whether you're constructing a business, learning an instrument, or trying to turn into an incredible artist.People normally search for alternate routes. Once in a while, there are little hacks and deceives to assist you with pushing ahead quicker. Be that as it may, at long last, most genuine achievement requires persistence. It's significant not to mistake positive diligence for careless redundancy. A few people tenaciously do something very similar again and again, never perceiving that the outcomes don't change. They become Sisyphus.Nothing in this world can replace ingenu ity. Ability won't; nothing is more typical than fruitless men with ability. Virtuoso won't; unrewarded virtuoso is right around a maxim. Instruction won't; the world is loaded with taught cast offs. Constancy and assurance alone are transcendent. - Calvin CoolidgeWhatever it is you need to prevail at, set aside the effort to do it right. Search out guides and quality guidance. At that point, when you know you're on the correct way, grasp persistence. It may take for some time, yet at that point, Rome was not worked in a day. After some time, your perseverance will pay off. Others, maybe contenders, will surrender or proceed onward. In the interim, you'll despite everything be stopping ceaselessly, much the same as the tortoise. And that is the means by which you win your race to success. Before you goI'm John Weiss. Im sorry, Im thankful, Im excited!

Im sorry, Im thankful, Im excited! If you bought the bundle deal in Virginia or Maryland and are wondering how to redeem it, use the Contact Us form at the bottom to let us know your JibberJobber username. If you were in my presentation and DID NOT buy the deal but want the other thing please use the Contact Us form to request it. I’ve been pretty busy lately. After we got evacuated from our house because of a fire close to us I spoke to a group of entrepreneurial accountants and bookkeepers at the annual Universal Accounting conference on Monday. Tuesday I got up around 4:30am (I am so not a morning person!) so I could catch a flight to Dallas for a conference for Resume Writers. I was fortunate to be invited to speak at a job club near Dallas (Career Jumpstart near Richardson) that was celebrating their 5 year anniversary â€" what a treat! I love job clubs because they provide so much strength and support to a community at the individual level. Wednesday through Saturday I did conference stuff (some terrific conversations, strategic ideas/plans and renewal of friendships/relationships), and then flew home. I rolled in around 7pm to do two quick loads of laundry and see my family for a short 15 hours. Then, Sunday morning I hopped on a flight, this time to Maryland/Virginia. I spoke seven times in three days, including two six hour workshops. It was fun, exciting, and somehow exhausting. Wednesday night I was gassing up my rental car utterly exhausted from presenting, driving and networking, and I was looking at the beautiful evening sky and trees around the gas station thinking how blessed I was. I had spent the last 72 hours running like crazy and touching, heart to heart, over 500 people. In my presentations I heard some “wow!” remarks, as I shared some of my ideas, and saw lights go on. I saw people “get it” … they really “got it” â€" they internalized my message. Some of them would change strategies and tactics and have different results. Some of them were stuck in their job search and that’s what they needed to hear. That’s cool. But even cooler was what happened to the people who were stuck in life. Downtrodden, depressed, deflated. The job search is such a trying time â€" it is harder than most things we’ve ever had to go through and people have been beat up so long they don’t think they are worth what they used to be worth. I got comments and emails from some of these people and after the meetings they indicated they got unstuck. They were now empowered and enabled. They got the glimmer of hope back… People ask if I’m a motivational speaker. I’m not. I don’t get up and “hip hop hooray!” But I thrive on knowing that if I can touch just one person, and help get them unstuck, then I’m successful when I speak. That’s what I hope for. Indeed, before I present, it is what I pray for: to touch just one person and hopefully help them get unstuck in their life. Thank you to each of you who support me, in any way, as I move forward with what I consider my (current) “mission” in life! And to those I met in Virginia and Maryland â€" let’s enjoy this journey together! (back to the title Im thankful for the chance to do what I do. 5 Reasons Why Your Business Needs Scheduling Software

5 Reasons Why Your Business Needs Scheduling Software It seems like there a type of software for everything in business nowadays. But is that necessarily a bad thing? Not if it makes your life easier! Software, computer programs, and online tools can help you save time (and money) on administrative work that wastes large chunks of your workday and exhausts valuable human resources that could otherwise be spent on more substantial projects. No matter which field you’re in or what your business does, there’s one common denominator that’s a hassle for everyone: scheduling. It’s time-consuming, headache-inducing, and can quickly become a logistical nightmare for everyone involved. In fact, people were so sick of scheduling that they created software to make it faster and easier than ever before. Not convinced that your business needs it? Here are a few benefits of scheduling software that might change your mind. 1. Cloud-Based Technology Means (Practically) Unlimited Accessibility Introducing scheduling software to your business means that thanks to cloud-based technology, employees will be able to access the company schedule from any Internet-connected device. Send out notifications when a new schedule is published, and ensure that your workers always have the most recent copy of the schedule. Don’t worryâ€"you can still edit schedules once they’re published and send new notifications to alert employees to a schedule change. Choosing a scheduling software that comes with a mobile app will take accessibilityâ€"and convenienceâ€"to the next level. Image courtesy of Pexels. 2. It’s Just More Efficient Remember when we said scheduling can be a logistical nightmare? Well, there’s no way to get out of having to make a regular schedule, but scheduling software can streamline the process so that it’s less of a pain. With features like color-coding, drag-and-drop functionality, and, of course, copy and paste, scheduling is more intuitive, organized, and just plain more efficient. 3. Location and Job Specificity Employees who divide their time between two or more locations might have a hard time keeping track of where they’re supposed to be going for their next shift. Likewise, you might get confused about who’s scheduled where and at what time. Scheduling software is largely customizable, which means that it’s easy to create and assign locations and job sites to each employee. Plus, you can also specify jobs and projects so that employees know exactly what they’re supposed to be doing throughout each shift. If your business has more than one location, you know that avoiding mixups on the schedule isn’t as easy as it might seem. Image courtesy of Pexels. 4. Cut Down On Mistakes Surrounding Time Off With scheduling software, not only will your employees be able to access the schedule remotely, but they’ll also be able to put in requests for time off from outside the office. Once you approve the request, it’ll be stored in the software and prevent you from scheduling that employee during that time. This means that there will be less confusion for you when you’re making the schedule and also reduce the chances that an employee will be scheduled for a shift during their vacation time. 5. Save Money Scheduling can take up a lot of timeâ€"and in business, we all know that time equals money, which means that scheduling software can help you save in both areas. We already said that using software to create your schedule is more efficient, but how else can it help you save? To start, automatic saving and syncing can help prevent the disaster that comes along with lost connection and accidental erasing or deleting. Additionally, scheduling software has better accuracy than an human making the schedules by hand, which means less costly mistakes, tooâ€"especially when it’s time to process your payroll. Every penny counts toward making your business more successful, so cutting down on wasted resources can make a big difference. Image courtesy of Pixabay. Why Stop at Scheduling? Now that we’ve outlined how scheduling software can improve your business, one question remains stillâ€"why stop there? These are some other HR and operations tools that your business could benefit from: Time clock software â€" This one goes hand-in-hand with scheduling software and is pretty similar in concept. Instead of having physical time cards and timesheets, you’d use a web-based platform to track your employees’ time on the clock. Fortunately, most scheduling software providers offer this service and vice versa. Human resources management system (HRMS) â€" Introducing software to store company records and data will keep your archives organized, your HR department running smoothly, and your information secure. Employee engagement tools â€"  From recognition and rewards to anonymous feedback and company-wide polls, technology is definitely your friend when it comes to keeping employees engaged and satisfied with their jobs. These tools come in many forms, including apps and interactive platforms. A sense of tradition can be an asset in businessâ€"but only to a certain extent. Don’t get so caught up in the “old-school” way of doing things that you aren’t willing to evolve with the times, especially if that means simplifying monotonous taskwork and creating a more convenient workplace for both yourself and your coworkers. If speeding up your scheduling process makes things a little easier, then why not do it? Find a plan that works for your budget, and see how much you save in the long run.
